Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

" ( R . 3048-3049 . ) A boat [ Johnson ( out-board outboard ) motor ] could not be taken over the Rock Creek rapids without ( towing towingi ) nor could it be taken over the Bridge Canyon rapids without towing . ( R . 3049 . ) Navajo Crossing is a shallow place in the river where a ledge of rock crosses it . By shallow - ( va- va ) ter he means so that it can be waded or crossed by horses . Navajo Crossing is above the mouth of the San Juan River and the time he went up with the ( Stantoii Stanton ) party is the only time he was ever up there . A boat with a Johnson ( out-board outboard ) motor attached could not be boated over the Bull ( Prog Frog ) Rapids without towing .
