They did not run below that , and walked the balance of the way down to a point that came out just north of Powell Canyon and observed the cataracts below for the first time . They probably were five minutes going through the hundred yards , and the speed of the boat and the speed of the river being so close together it was the same as if they were just ( lei- lei ) surely going through , but he did not tow up . He never towed on the river . ( R . 5208 . ) He never at any time had to do any towing with that boat on that or any subsequent trip he made with it . There were no difficulties on that trip and they returned at the extreme crest of the high water . This wds one of the highest water seasons in years . They went up the Green River during that ( high-water highwater ) period , and it was so high and the drift was so heavy that they had to follow the sides of the channel to ( avoid zivoid ) drifting , but ( 011 on ) that trip they did not get stuck on any sand bars .
