Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show 1337 morning from ( tbe the ) time ( he lie ) had the trouble until he landed at ( Wimmer's Wimmers ) Ranch . In going around to Moab he had seven or eight passengers in his boat and most of the supplies . He had no special trouble that he remembers at all on the trip , and does not especially recall any ( de- de ) lays from any cause . ( R . ( 5217 -0217 ) . ) The passengers left at ( Moab Aloab ) and the crew came back . They took their ( time tinie ) , hunting along the river . They left ( Wimmer's Wimmers ) ( ranch rauch ) after dinner , and camped , he ( be- be ) lieves , at Echo Bottom , and the next night camped at the junction of the river , and going up to Moab made one ( night's nights ) camp , and reached Moab between twelve and one ( o'clock oclock ) in the afternoon . He made one special trip to the ( "Winamer Winamer Wimmer ) Ranch during the summer with an excursion party . This trip was for compensation . ( R . 5218 . ) During the summer he took several picnic parties up the river from Greenriver for a few miles . He does not recall just the number , but there were ( sev- sev ) eral . He does not recall other shorter trips down the river except those he has mentioned . The trip to Moab following the accident to his boat ( was -was was ) for compensation . In 1910 he started work with the ( pumping pumpi-hg pumpihg ) plants , and had no further experience to amount to ( any- any ) thing on the river with his own boats . He made one trip in 1914 with the Wimmer boat to the junction . |
