Show on the boats were the 1286 bills of lading which were turned over to the shipper when he paid his monthly accounts , and they had no duplicate records , but they had a complete record of every truck and car they had . . ( R . 5044-5045 . ) He first saw his ( mother's mothers ) diary shortly after she started to make it , and he used it for the purpose of referring back to some trip he wished to know about . . The diary has been used in connection ( with ivith ) his ( busi- busi ) ness to obtain dates when they started to rimifie big boat and wanted to refer back to when it was built . ( R . . 5048 . ) - Mr . . Clark took this diary with him to Denver and , it is assumed that he took it there for a purpose . . Virgil Baldwin has kept it since Mr . Clark took it to Denver , before that time it was kept in his ( mother's mothers ) house . The diary belongs to Virgil Baldwin and his mother , from whom Mr . Clark obtained it , and from whom he , Clarence Baldwin , obtained it . Virgil Baldwin testified to a number of trips he made and if he had the book in his possession it is assumed he used it . ( R . 5049-5050 . ) By using his ( mother's mothers ) diary , ( Defendant's Defendants ) Exhibit 27 , to refresh his recollection , he is able to state of his own knowledge that the trips made by Virgil Baldwin in the big barge were made at times as set forth in the diary and that he can testify by referring to it because he knew it was correct at the time the entries were made .
