Show 945 ( water-4he water4he ) rapids in Cataract Canyon would not be wiped out until ( the tile ) elevation at Lees Ferry attained a height of 3,800 feet . These dams are not maintained full at all times . . They are irrigation dams , because the need is a need for irrigation . The same thing applies to power , too : On some streams the irrigation need and power need are coordinate ; and that is generally true with regard to the Colorado River . ( R . 3721-3722 . ) ( Recross-examination Recrossexamination ecross-examination ecrossexamination ) ( R . , Vol . 20 , pp . 3722- 3728 ) : The plan was to furnish water for irrigation of California lands , and , perhaps , Mexico , and Arizona lands , too , were in the project . The power was not designed to be used in California . The power , of course , would be generated at these local dams . That would be available to whatever extent it could be transmitted . He has not been talking to Senator Johnson about that very recently . He believes Utah would get a cut of it too . They had a reservoir at Dewey there , and another one up there at Ouray , and they talked about the one at the Junction , which is not shown on this map . At Flaming Gorge , also , which is also in Utah . They were all very much interested in ( that-the thatthe ) people in Utah ; the Governor of Wyoming , now Senator ( Ken- Ken ICen- ICen ) ( drick-they drickthey ) were all very much interested in it as a power and an irrigation proposition .
