Description Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929.

Prior to ( that tliat ) time lie lived at ( Fruit- Fruit ) land , New Mexico , and before coming to ( Bluff Bluit- Bluit ) ( ho lie ) took a boat ( trip tril ) on the river from Fruitland , New Mexico , as far down ( as -is is ) Copper ( Canyon Clinyon ) . There was one other ( man mail ) with M1117 and ( he lie ) went all the way on the ( river ri'er rier ) . He was trapping and the other man was placer mining . ( R . 4478-4479 . ) The entire trip took about two ( months montlis ) . He left Farmington on the 15th of October , ( 1910 -1910 ) . He got a couple of burros and packed the bedding and other stuff ( and 'and and ) walked and rode . When ( he lie ) went to Bluff he went into the ( mercan merean- merean ) tile business , bought the old ( Co-op Coop ) ( , . ) that used to be run by ( Kimien Kinnen ) Jones ; ran this store for about five years and one time ( made niade ) delivery of supplies to people who were going down the San Juan ( River Pliver ) in boats .
