Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Anderson also had ( boatB boal"s' boals ) . , They were all power boats and ( iu iii ) addition ( thdl-d thdld thOV4 ) . were a good many rowboats . Nearly all ( fflie the ) ( ranches x4liches ) had ( to 'LV- LV ) have a rowboat to get back and fortb across the river . In the early days there was no way to cross except ( with -with with ) a ferry or by walking ( flie the ) railroad track . ( ( R P-1 P1 ) . 4753-4754 . ) He has ( nevel nevev ) had any experience with ( nonpower lionpower ) boats up and down the river . iHe was ( on oil ) the lower Colorado in 1915 . He went ( 011 all ) the river at Hite and down to Lees Ferry with ( BaRue LaRue ) and Richardson . This was in a ( rowboat owboat ) . In his 1921 experience ( on oil ) the lower Colorado his supplies came to the river at Halls Crossing ( and a1id ) he operated a boat on the river in the fall ( of of- of ) ( 1921 19-9L 199L ) . ( R . ( 4754-4755 4754-470-5 ) . ) ( -He He ) had a rowboatwith an Evinrude motor and he believes he went thirty miles from Halls ( Cross Cross- Cross ) ¬ ing . This was ( in ill ) connection with the ( Chenoweth ChenovvTeth ) Expedition and ( Mr Air ) . Lint was along part of the time . The motor on this boat was two horsepower and he probably went up above Bull Frog Rapids twelve to fifteen times . ( In Ili ) going over Bull ( Frog- Frog Frog ) Rapids ( he lie ) ( would vould ) have to have his helper use the oars a little bit but did not have to use a line or get out and push .
