Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

The portion of the river on the ( right-hand righthand ) side of the island was about ( two-thirds twothirds ) of its total width , , or ( approxi approxi- approxi ) , mately two hundred feet and the ( two-foot twofoot ) ( channel- channel ) was over toward the ( right-hand righthand ) ( bank baiik ) of this channel going down . . On the occasion when he ( went weiit ) up to ( Hall's Halls ) ( Cross- Cross ) ing and waded most of the ( way ivay ) he did not select the center of the river to wade in but kept where it - was possible to wade or where the water was ( suffi" suffi ) cieutly shallow . .
