C . , and is a topographical engineer , in the employ of the United States ( Geologi Geologi- Geologi ) cal Survey , and has been in their employ since the fall of 1902 . He is not a graduate from a technical school but in the course of his work has been on several different rivers . ( R . 3982 . ) He has worked on the Pecos River in Texas the , Clarks Fork of the Columbia in Montana and Idaho , the Colorado River in Colorado and Utah , the Rio Grande in New Mexico and Texas , and the head of the Salt River in New Mexico . His work on these rivers was in connection with the preparation of maps and making surveys . In his work he used boat6a on the Clarks Fork of the Columbia ; on the Colorado River and part of the Rio Grande . ( R . 3983 . ) On the Rio Grande they started at the ( Colorado-New ColoradoNew ) Mexico line with the boats and proceeded down the stream . ( R . 3984 . ) ( JBe -He He ) is unable to state just how far they proceeded down the stream . He first came in contact with the Colorado River in the fall of 1911 at Grand Junction , Colorado , and worked from Grand Junction downstream to a point just below Castle Creek . The purpose of work was to make a plan and profile survey of the river . ( R . 3984 ) He was in charge of the party making the survey and used two ( flat-bottom flatbottom ) rowboats , fourteen feet long with a four foot beam and a draft of not more |
