Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show Thereis a rapid right 1222 at Halls Crossing and one they call Shock Rapids , but neither of ( them theiii ) proved to be as bad ( as -as as ) the Bridge Canyon Rapid ( and aild ) ( he lie ) ( ran 1-an 1an ) ( them thein ) a time or two . He also ( ran rail ) the Bridge Canyon Rapid on other trips . From Bridge Canyon ( on oil ) down to Lees ( Perry Ferry ) there ( weren't werent ) any rapids that bothered ( him Iiiiii ) . The water is about the ( same saine ) . ( Warm Warin ) Creek ( comes conics ) in there and ( he lie ) ( couldn't couldnt ) tell the difference either in ( going gohig ) down or coming up the ( river Tiver ) . ( R . 4821-4822 . ) He ( doesn't doesnt ) believe it ( made niade ) ( any tiny ) difference whether he was going up or down stream ; the water would be the same . The last time he saw the Marguerite it was tied above the Bridge at Greenriver [ Utah ] . He ( didn't didnt ) sell it before he left Greenriver ; just anchored it to the bank . ( -He He --He He ) believes he has been back to Greenriver since he tied the Marguerite up . The last time he was in Greenriver was about the 23d of October 1929 and he ( didn't didnt ) see the Marguerite . , , He ( doesn't doesnt ) know where the boat called the Navajo is now , but he did not see it when he was at ( Green- Green ) river the last time , nor did he see any boat on ( the tbe ) Green River at that time . The only boat he saw was the one at the ( ranch Talich ) . He remembers now that he did see a power boat at Greenriver the last time . It belonged to Mr . Yokey .
