Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

He took two and ( one-half onehalf ) round trips by boat to Moab for the Marlin Oil Company and the ( Stand Stand- Stand ) ard Oil ; two round trips and . one trip to ( Moab Aloab ) , from where ( he lie ) went out by automobile . . It was five days from Greenriver to Moab on the ( Marlin Alarlin ) trip . . ( R . 4832 . ) He had two boats on this trip that ( he lie ) took as far as the ( junction jiuaction ) , where he left two of the party and then took two of them to Moab , being two days going up . ( R . 4833 . ) The Marguerite at that time was still tied up at Greenriver , where they left it . ( R . 4833 . ) The Standard Oil trip was just a ( one-way oneway ) trip , on which he used an outboard motorboat that ( be- be ) longed to them . ( R . 4833 . ) He had no one with him on this trip to help ( maii- maii ) age the boats . This boat did not get to ( Moab Aloab ) as it was burned up twelve or fourteen miles above the junction on the Green River . Only one side of the boat and the oars , ( which wWch ) ( were Nvere ) lying in the bottom , were burned . He repaired the boat with a piece of canvas and went on down to the junction in it . . All their bedding , ( grub grab ) , , and supplies were also burned . . Before they left oia the trip they left word that if they did not get out in a certain . length of time they were to be sent for . .
