Show how deep the ( water 'water water ) came 962 on their legs . ( K R ) . 3768- 3769 . ) They could get along fairly well in six inches of water , although the boat would ground some . There were not a great number of places on that particular trip ( where ivhere ) they had to carry the boat around . On the down trip they met Wesley Oliver , the packer at ( Spencer's Spencers ) Camp , loaded on some four hundred pounds of supplies , and went downstream ; the trip requiring about five hours . Oliver had ( origi origi- origi ) nally come overland from Goodrich ( with ivith ) a pack train and was to meet them at Piute Creek , but was unable to reach there because the trail was blocked by a recent landslide . ( R . 3769 . ) From the launching place near Bluff , supplies enough were taken in the boats to last until the party got to Goodrich , the balance of the supplies were brought to them overland by pack train except on one trip that Bert Loper took from the ( thirteen-foot thirteenfoot ) rapid ( downstream downstrearn ) to the Colorado , and obtained grub that was cached there and brought back to camp a small sack of flour . On this trip Loper had walked and waded the river ( whenever wbenever ) necessary , and arrived at camp that night with a wet sack of flour . OR . 3770-3771 . ) They had received supplies at ( several seireral ) places between Goodrich and the time when the packer was supposed to bring supplies in at Piute Creek . ( These Thesle ) supplies were brought down to the river on various trails . |
