Show the Green River first in ( 1032 IOS2 ) 1892 when she went from , Greenriver , Utah , to ( Valentine's Valentines ) Bottom . ( R . 4271 . ) The trip was made in two rowboats and a scow or barge . The scow was operated by two sweeps . She recalls their party encountered difficulties in getting down to ( Valentine's Valentines ) Bottom . They started above the bridge , above Greenriver bridge , about a mile above Greenriver bridge , and we commenced to hit bars at the wash , ( Saleratus Salbratus ) wash , it is the wash below Greenriver bridge . The rowboats hit them , and the barge hit ( the-bars thebars ) . ( R . 4272 . ) The men who were on the barge would release the boats ( some some- some ) times by prying them off the bars by the oars or sweeps , and sometimes by getting out in the water and pushing them off . ( R . 4272 . ) From the mouth of the San Rafael down to ( Valen Valen- Valen ) ( tine's tines ) Bottom difficulty was encountered principally from sand bars and insome places it would be ( diffi diffi- diffi ) cult to get the boats free . This happened frequently . . She does not remember exactly how many times a day , three or four times maybe . She believes it took . probably five or six days to go from Greenriver down to ( Valentine's Valentines ) Bottom , the trip being made in ( Sep- Sep ) tember , 1892 .
