Description Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929.

OCR Text from tributaries , Brush and 1027 Ashley Creeks , although there might be a trifle of land irrigated by pumped water from the river . The area shaded yellow , which indicates proposed irrigation , might possibly involve some pumping from the river ; the amount of ( water -water water ) used would be small and would have no relation whatever ( to 'to to ) the power sites . There is a little ( pro- pro ) posed irrigation near Ouray Utah ] . The Ouray reservoir site , however , has been discarded because of ( more 'more more ) usable sites and poor foundation conditions there . These proposed irrigated lands , as those ( under 'under under ) irrigation , would obtain water principally from tributaries to the Green River . ( R . 4047-4048 . ) These dam sites were surveyed under authority of the Reclamation Service of 1902 , and by Geological Survey , under general authority for investigation of water resources . Many of the surveys , however , were undertaken with a view to develop a ( compre compre- compre ) hensive general plan of development for the whole river . In the vicinity of Greenriver , Utah , is the most promising possibility of irrigation in Utah from the Green River . By diverting the water from a dam of considerable height , and supplementing by pumping , water could be obtained to irrigate a few thousand acres . ( R . 4048-4049 . ) Compl . Exh . No . 507 is the press relief , bearing the title ( "Utilization Utilization ) of the Green and Colorado Rivers .
