Show ( to 'to to ) find a channel deep 1052 enough to float the boat . ( R . 4184 . ) After reaching the mouth of the Green River they continued on up the Colorado River to Moab . The Colorado River being narrow and the fact that there had been a rain storm increased the depth of the water in the stream about a foot and a half , so that little trouble was encountered except at the slide , a short distance above the junction , at which point the motor had barely enough power to move the boat ahead . ( R . 4184 . ) Beyond the slide some difficulty was encountered with whirlpools , but nothing serious . At one place , fifteen or twenty miles above the ( junc- junc ) tion of the rivers , considerable difficulty was had with sand bars . The most trouble encountered ( on op ) the trip up was about a mile below the Moab Bridge where the river goes into the Canyon . That stretch of a mile took them about two hours to boat . They arrived at Moab October 13 , 1926 . The boat with the Evinrude motor attached drew about one foot and a half of water and the motor was fixed stationary to the boat . ( R . 4184-4185 . ) Progress of the boat was slow enough so that the geology could be mapped , although stops were made at several points , one stop being for two days to measure a section of the formation exposed . After reaching Moab the boat was stored and that is the last time that he has been back on the river . ( R . 4186 . ) |
