Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

He ( lias has ) been up overland to Rock Canyon , 50 to 60 ( miles iniles ) above Lees ( Feny Ferry ) , but only by boat up the Colorado ( Elver River ) , about 7 miles . He has packed supplies to Survey camp of Southern ( Edi Edi- Edi ) son ( Company Compauy ) . ( R . 3071-3072 . ) One trip he ( went -went went ) to the ( river Tiver ) and got supplies off the boat . ( R . 3072- 3073 . ) Pack train went to Lees Ferry once a ( week -vveek vveek ) for supplies ; on survey two months in 1921 . ( "Went Went Went ) from mouth of Rock Creek to Lees Ferry by ( home home- home ) ¬ made ( rowboat Towboat ) ( which Arbich ) had been brought up and left there . ( R . 3072-3073 . ) Went down twenty miles to another camp . In December he returned to Lees Ferry , and from Rock Creek they went to another camp , from the latter camp ( he be ) was a ( ctay day ) and half reaching Lees Ferry . ( R . 3074 . ) Down from camp 20 miles below Rock Creek to Lees Ferry , they encountered sand bars at ( Mexi Mexi- Mexi ) ( can caii ) bar . Landed at another point and worked the boat off the bar .
