Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show Exhibit No . ( 32B 3213 ) is a 1385 picture of ( Cataract Catarach ) ( No Nic ) ) . 1 . The people in the picture are Mr . and ( Mrs T"Nlrs TNlrs ) . ( Wimmsr Winith-or Winithor ) and family , and Alton Tanner and his wife and their children . The baby in the picture between the ( nian'' nian ) and woman belongs to the Tanners . . They were taken down to the first cataract in Mr . ( Wimmer's Wimmers Wirnmer's Wirnmers ) boat ; ( he lie ) , Wolverton , being hired as pilot . Exhibit No . 32C is a picture of the ( Wilmont Wilinont ) pushing a scow loaded with ore . ( R . 536S . ) When the scow was pushed up or down river he had no trouble with sand bars . There were several tons of copper ore on the scow . The copper ore on the scow was taken to his , ( Wolverton's Wolvertons ) , ranch . The shipments of copper ore that were made were taken out for experiment purposes and ( he lie ) did the testing himself on his ranch . ( R . 5369 . ) Exhibit No . 32D is a picture of the Wilmont behind the scow loaded with ore and the motor boat Colorado . Exhibit No . 32E is the picture of a ( two-story twostory ) ( cliff- cliff ) ( dweller's dwellers ) house on the lower end of ( Valentine's Valentines ) Bottom . Exhibit No . 32F is a photograph of rocks . Exhibit No . 32G is a photograph of rocks at the mouth of Horseshoe Canyon . The graphs appear at a height of from a few feet to fifty or sixty feet . ( R . 5370-5371 . ) Exhibit No . 32H is a picture of some pottery taken from a ( cliff-dweller's cliffdwellers ) house on Grassy Bottom . It was taken from the ( cliff-dweller's cliffdwellers ) house shown in Exhibit No . 32 . . |
