Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

He is sure that on the ( motor-boat motorboat ) trip they never ( rai'l rail ) on a sand bar , and he made a perfect trip ; did not strike an obstruction anywhere . ( Mr Afr ) . Wolverton thought that this was rather an unusual thing . ( R . 4890 . ) He got back from Hite to Greenriver overland , and he ( hasn't hasnt ) been down around the place called ( "Wimmer's Wimmers Wimmer's Wimmers ) Ranch since 1914 . He has some derricks where he is drilling around Ploy or Crescent , and he drilled one well four ( thou- thou ) sand and seven feet deep , one six hundred feet , and one twelve hundred and some feet . These wells ( haven't havent ) been completed ; the one is standing full of oil but has never been ( cased eased ) . It has two strings of tools in it , and they are waiting a ruling from the department so they can go back to work . He ( doesn't doesnt ) believe the pictures that were taken on the trip with Russel and Tadje were ever shown only to just private companies . He saw them in Salt Lake City when the hearing was on the last time . Mr . Tadje showed them over at the ( Para- Para ) mount . ( R . 4891-4892 . ) Redirect ( examination exaviination ) ( R . , Vol . 27 , p . 4893 ) : On his ( exploring- exploring ) trips down the river he did not observe any oil structures along the Green unless possibly Dry Lakes might be a structure , but he ( hasn't hasnt ) made a study of the section so he would care to give his opinion about it .
