Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Bert Loper to take them to Lees Ferry ( in iii ) a rowboat , but Loper ( wasn't wasnt ) there and he took them through to Lees Ferry . ( R , ( 4834-4835 4834-48435 ) . ) On this trip ( he lie ) bought a boat at Hite . . He was next ( in ill ) the Glen Canyon in 1921 and he ( doesn't doesnt ) know whether the boats were from ( Green- Green ) river or Richfield , but they ( were -were were ) ( taken tak-en taken ) overland from one point or the other . He was just working for wages ; he had no ( con- con ) tract and ( he lie ) eventually took change of freighting from Greenriver . ( R . 4836 . ) He ( didn't didnt ) bring ( them then-i theni ) down the river because they were afraid of the Cataracts . They were hauled overland . He has never been through ( Cat- Cat ) aract Canyon . He has never had any difficulty on the rivers on . account of the sand getting ( in ill ) the bearings as it ( doesn't doesnt ) get in the bearings ; it ( wears N7ears ) out the pump . ( In Ili ) an Evinrude motor there is a gear that unless it is kept loaded with hard grease the water will get into the gear . He used a different engine ( eachlsea- eachlsea ) son he was there .
