Show It is the same thing called 1371 the San Rafael swell . It is the same thing ; it is the same reef ; it used to be , called the swell . ( R . 5319-5320 . ) He has never observed the ledge of rock extending down to and into the river at or near Lake Canyon . ( R . ( 5320- 50320- ) 5321 . ) The channel is narrow there . That is , ( the- the the ) deep water is narrow ; the creek spreads out , or ( the the- the ) river , pretty well , the river channel is narrow . He remembers such a place . ( R . 5321 . ) He would say that the channel there was in the neighborhood of forty feet wide . He has never been on the Colorado River below Hite in the month of August , but has been on the river the other ( eleven dl-e'ven dleven ) months of the year . ( R . 5321 . ) He has operated boats on the river having a draft of as much as two feet , loaded part of the way . In poling he has had an opportunity to observe the depth of the water , and during his years ( of of' of ) experience he knows of no difficulty or obstacles that would make the types of boats he has been ( accus- accus ) tomed to difficult in the navigation of the stream up . or down over that portion of the river on which he : is familiar . ( R . 5321-5323 . ) Cross examination ( R . Vol . 30 , pp . 5324-5326 ) : The boats used by him were the general type ( of of' of ) flat bottomed boats , he never having used keel boats . He can not tell what types of boats were used by other parties whom he saw on the river , and could not say as to whether or not he was close to where they were . They were used by miners . ( R . 5324- . 5325 ) . |
