All necessary supplies were taken from Moab with the party . ( R . 4022 . ) When they got through at the Green ( River Rive-" Rive ) they started back up stream and upon reaching the mouth of Indian Creek , they abandoned the river and ( fol- fol ) lowed Indian Creek to the Indian Creek Cattle ( Company's Companys ) ranch , about thirty miles up . They did not go back up the river in the boats because it was exceedingly slow work , the large boat having to be towed , and also because the food supplies had run out . The large boat spoken of is not the one that sank Immediately after the first boat sank he sent a boatman back to Moab , to which place ( he lie ) walked , going from there to Thompson by stage , and then to Grand Junction by rail . At Grand Junction he had a boat constructed eleven feet long and a five foot beam and flat bottom . ( R . 4023 . ) This boat , loaded drew about ten inches or more of water . This boat was brought to the Colorado River , from Grand Junction to Thompson , by rail , and from there to the Moab Bridge , by truck , and from there down the river to the party . He did not have the boat brought down the river from Grand Junction because it would be too difficult for one man to handle so large a boat . ( R . 4024 . ) ( | 0 ) |
