Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show apart and he was in Moab 1349 Thanksgiving Day , 1897 . He thinks possibly there was a raft ( "before before before ) he went there . ( ( B R ) . 5250-5251 . ) He knows of other lumber being hauled away during the first season of cutting on Castle Creek ( towards -towards towards ) the river . At the time he took a raft down he went on ( horseback borsebaek ) himself , and followed , the team down to the river . The raft began at the point where the road strikes the river coming from Castle Valley , about a mile above the mouth of Castle Creek . He worked at Fisher Point in the fall of 1902 and was there probably two or three months . He worked for him again in the fall of 1903 . ( ( B R ) . 5251-5252 . ) He was not there in the fall of 1904 , but he went ( further Curther ) up the river . He went down with other rafts , two in 1897 and one in 1898 , another one in 1902 and one in 1903 . During 1902 and 1903 there was lumber hauled from the mill down the road that leads to Castle Creek during other periods than those when he went down and accompanied the raft . There were about two teams hauling from the mill and they loaded every other day for the river . ( R . 5253 . ) After he left ( Mr TAIr ) . ( Branson's Bransons Brauson's Brausons ) employ in 1903 or 1904 , he settled on the river five and a half miles east of Cisco , and ( he lie ) went down from his ranch at Cisco to Moab once or twice a year during the four years ( he lie ) was there .
