Show ing from one side of the 773 river to the other , , to follow what they knew was the best channel . ( R . 2972 . ) In traveling up and down the river as many times as they did , they of course got to know places where the water ( -was was ) the deeper , and at extreme high water there was enough ( hack back ) eddies along the banks to , aid considerably in going upstream rather ( than thaan ) trying ( out wit ) in the main channel . But occasionally , in going up on one side of the bank , they ( would woOd ) run into where they knew there were submerged rocks , because at low water they ( would -would would ) have been exposed ; . their only chance then was to cross the river and try ( another anotlier ) channel on the other side . In ( doing doing- doing ) that , they had trouble with ( sand saild ) bars in the middle of the stream . At low water those channels and banks were . not covered ; the water rose about ten feet while they were there . ( R 2973 . ) He is unable to state whether in going up ( stream strealn ) . in high water he would have trouble if he follows . the same course used in low water , because ( he be ) never did ( that tbat ) . . In high water the eddies were of ( as- as ) sistance in going up stream ; the eddies were not very long , but each would assist a little in going up . . ( When Wbeii ) he got to the end of the eddy he ( gen-- gen ) erally ( would woiild ) not have trouble getting back into the deeper water . The Riff Climber was used occasionally ( when whea ) ( de- de ) sirable ; ; most of the work was done in a ( rowboat rovboat ) with an outboard motor , owned by the Moab Garage . ( R . . 2974 ) |
