Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

The ( teni- teni ) perature on the edge of the river as they walked was quite ( warm -Nirarm Nirarm ) ; it was cold on the river during those days . ( ( B R ) . 2920 . ) It took nearly an hour to go from Shafer No . ( 1 I ) to Island Mesa . The next time he returned to the Colorado River was the evening of February 25th , 1926 . The ( pur- pur ) pose of his return was to make the road survey . into the well . He ( earne came ) overland through Moab . ( R . 2920 . ) He went back out to the mouth of the canyon and ( made -made made ) a survey through the canyon and then ( re- re ) ( turned -turned turned ) to Moab . ( R . 2920-2921 . ) He went by automobile to the end of the canyon , to the upper ( end -end end ) of Knob canyon . He made a survey through the canyon and returned to Moab by boat . The ( pas- pas ) senger boat of the Moab Garage Company that met him there is known as the black boat . He was then ( for -for for ) four days back and forth on the river , on the lower ( end eild ) of ( tlie the ) survey around ( Knob Xmob ) canyon , and was ( using ushig ) at times the black passenger boat of the Moab Garage Company . ( R . 2921 . ) On one of those days he made a trip completely to ( Shafer ) No . 1 from Moab .
