Show 1306 OTTO EXPnY For Defendant ( Record , vol . 0-9 , pp . 5116-5131 ) He is 48 years old , of Salt Lake City , and is an employee of the U . S . Fuel Company , at ( Mohrland Molirland ) , Utah . He at one time lived in Moab , Utah , having moved there at about the age of 4 or 5 years , and leaving about 1918 or 1919 . As a boy in Moab he remembers an old trapper by the name of Powers , nicknamed ( "Rocky Rocky ) , " and has seen him come in with skins after trapping ( expedi- expedi ) tions . He remembers of him trapping for a period of five or six years and he ( doesn't doesnt ) know of any other occupation followed by him . ( R . 5116-5117 . ) The furs were brought in from down the Colorado River and he has seen him come up the river with his boat . He also remembers Ed and Hy Turner and Charlie Turner and Louis Petzell , who were trappers on the river and brought furs into Moab in their boats . He has seen other rowboats on ( the'river theriver ) , having had one himself , and has made hunting expeditions down the river in it . ( R . 5118 . ) He has also known others to go down the river hunting . In all of his experience he never had any trouble with sand bars on the Colorado River . He is acquainted with the Branson boys , and recalls their rafting of lumber on the Colorado River , , which operations covered a period of five to seven years or longer . As he grew older he rode the range some and saw some of the Branson rafts on the river . . |
