Show The well at Lockhart has 1297 been plugged . At Shafer No . 2 the equipment is all torn down and piled up on the river bank , and the Shafer No . 1 well has been plugged . ( R . 5085 . ) Trouble with sand bars and other conditions below the dock [ at Moab ] has not been of sufficient gravity , or caused sufficient expense , to make them seriously think of moving the dock further down . They never bothered much about sand bars , only during July and August , and at other times there was very little ( trouble -trouble trouble ) . They made their regular trips as a rule with , a few exceptions . ( R . 5085-5086 ) . ( Recross-examination Recrossexamination ) ( R . , Vol . 29 , pp . 5086- 5088 ) : They had trouble with ice in the winter of 1924 and 1925 when a big piece of shore ice came loose , crossed the river in a narrow place , and caused slush ice to jam and the river to freeze . ( R . 5086 . ) He has seen the river frozen over at Moab only once ( and -and and ) that was in the winter of 1924 and 1925 . The river is filled with large cakes of ice at a certain time every year , usually ( during durihg ) the spring thaws in March and April . ( R . 5086-5087 . ) At certain times , when the river would raise a foot or two , the ice would start to come down at once , great big pieces ; you had to watch out when you were operating a boat ; he has dodged them lots of times there . ( R . 5087 . ) He has never stayed off the river on account of ice . ( R . 5087-5088 . ) |
