Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show Before ( be he ) ( moved inoved ) to 1195 ( Orescent Creseent ) his next river ( experience -experience experience ) on either the Green or the Colorado Rivers , he believes , was with ( Mr Air ) . ( Richardson' Richardson Richardson ) , for the government in 1914 , but after ( he lie ) moved to Crescent ( Ms his ) next experience ( was -was was ) on the lower Colorado and ( -was was ) with ( Mr Air ) . ( Trimble Triluble ) and Mr . Chenoweth [ for the ( U -U U ) . S . Geological Survey ] in 1921 , and he was on the lower Colorado in 1921 and again in 1922 and 1923 . - ( R . 4740 . ) He made another visit to the Green River and Moab section in 1924 with the Marlin Oil Company and made some trips that year , and he was also on the river between Greenriver and Moab in 1925 . From 1906 or 1907 , the time he bought the ( Marguerite Xarguerite ) , he owned the ranch referred to as the Wimmer Ranch off and on and operated it until a company came and undertook to put water on it . ( R . 4741 . ) After that another company came down and tried to put water on by another system of water wheels and they took out the water system that the other company put in and the wheels that replaced them ( weren't werent ) a success and it left him without water so he left the ranch . The ranch consisted of three hundred ( fifty-one fiftyone ) acres of very fertile soil . He made trips from Greenriver to the ranch and back in the Marguerite , as that is what it was built for and he would make trips in the spring from the time there ( wasn't wasnt ) any ice up to fall .
