Homo ficuî flos egreditur , Vhotnme naît comme une fleur ; où Job , félon notre Auteur , & un Interprète qu'il cite , ne prétend pas comparer l'homme à une fleur en gênerai , mais à la fleur de Jacynthe en particulier, laquelle par la fyllabe ai qu'elle porte écrite fur ks feuilles , reprefenre iî bien les cris que font les enfans quand ils naiffenti Notre Auteur avoue cependant que tous les Interprètes ne conviennent pas fur ce point, & il cite là-deflus Maxtmil* Sanâsu* in flore myfiicc. p, 547. lequel prétend que la lettre A par & figure triangulaire fîgnifie Dieu en trois Perfonnes, &la lettre / §efus, en forte que la diphtongue Ai, marquée fur la fleur de Jacynthe, veut dire Dieu & Jefus. M. Warlitz dans la fuitede cette Préface, raoralife beaucoup fur les miferes de la vie: il a foin d'appuyer toutes fes moralitez des témoignages de di-vei's Auteurs; & il cite premièrement Saint Au-guftin, puis Pétrarque, Pline, & Seneque ; en-fuite Saint Cyprien, Hérodote, Paracelfe , Diogene Laërce, &c. L'Ouvrage eft divité en dix chapitres :1e premier eft des larmes en général ; la connoiflànce èes larmes en gênerai^ félon notre Auteur, fe tire de la Botanique, de laPhyMque, de la Morale , delà fuperftition païenne3de laRhetorique,delaReligion, &c.
