CAPITULO X. Que trata de unas diosas que llamaban CIVAPIPILTI. Lo que en el prese.nte capitulo ~e trata es, de que decian que estas d1os~s andan JUntas por el aire, y aparecen cuan~o qtner~n a los que viven sabre la tierra, y a los n1nos y n1flas los ernpecen (b) con enfcrmedades, cotno es dando1as mal de per]esia, y entrando en los .. cuerpoSliUmanos. El vipil era pintado de unas olas de negro: las en~as tenian labradas de diversas colores, y tenia sus cotaras blancas. CAPITULO XI. Que trata de la diosa del agua, que la llamaban CHALCHIUHTLIYCUE: es otra Juno. Esta diosa, llamada Chalchiuhtliycue, diosa de la agua, pintabanla como a rnuger, y decian que era hermana de los dioses de la l1uvia que Haman Tlaloques, honrabanla porque decian que ella tenia poder sabre el agua de la n1ar. y de los rios, para ahogar los que andaban en estas aguas, y hacer tempestades y torbellinos en elias, y anegar los navios y barcas y otros vasos que caminaban por el agua. Hacian fiesta a esta diosa en la que se Jlama Etzalqualiztli, que se pone en el2 Jibro .... capitulo 7, alii estan a ]a larga las ceremonias y sacrificios con que la festejaban corpo alii se podra ver. Los que eran devotos a esta ... diosa y Ia festejaban, eran todos aquellos que tienen sus grangerias en e] agua, como son los que la venden en canoas, y los que Ia venden en tinaj;;-- en Ja plaza.
