ABSTRACT OF THE PROCEEDINGS The S ecretary read a report on the additions that had been made to the Society's Menagerie during the month of March 1906, which stated that they were 124 in number.! Mr. Old f ie ld T h om a s , F.R.S., exhibited the skin of a remarkable new Duiker from Nyasaland, which had been presented to the British Museum by Mi-. S. W. Frank. It was (by Mr. Frank's request) named as follows :- Cepiialopiius w a l k e r i , sp. 11. Size medium. General ground-colour dark greyish brown, darkening almost to black on the back. Under surface scarcely lighter. Whole of forehead deep glossy black, connected by a narrow dark line down the nape with the black of the back. Cheeks and chin pale fawn. Limbs dark throughout. Hah. Tuchela River, S. Nyasa. Type. B.M. No. 6.4.21.1. The Hon. W a l ter R o th sch ild , M.P., F.Z.S., read a short paper entitled " Further Notes on Anthropoid Apes," and exhibited five mounted specimens, one skeleton, six skulls, and a photograph of the following races:-Gorilla gorilla dark-headed race, G. gorilla red-lieaded race, G. gorilla matschiei, G. gorilla dielili, Simla vellerosus, and S. vellerosus fuliginosus. Mr. O ld f ie ld T h om a s, F.R.S., read a paper on Mammals collected in South-west Australia for Mr. W . E. Balston. * This Abstract is published by the Society at 3 Hanover Square, London, W., on the Tuesday following the date of Meeting to which it refers. It will be issued, free of extra charge, to all Fellows who subscribe to the Publications, along with the ‘ Proceedings ' ; but, it may be obtained on the day of publication at the price of Sixpence, or, if desired, sent post-free for the sum of Six Shillings per annum, payable in advance. |
