Hipporrhinus (bertince Fst.), Stett. ent. Zeit. 1891, p. 385 = II. va/rius F&hr. In my revision of Hipporrhiims <p> *oc. Zool. Soc. 1904, i. p. 141) I erroneously attributed this species to the genus Stramia Mshl., but through the kindness of Dr. Heller, of Dresden, I have now been able to examine Faust's ty23e. J )r. Heller's kind assistance has also enabled me to clear up the following synonymy :- (Jlypomeces) (impressicollis Per.) Trans. S. A. Phil. Soc. 1885, p. 125 = Dei'eodus vagabundus Fst.. Ent. Nadir. 1885, p. 7 ; and (II. modestus Per.) 1. c. p. 12Q> = Dereodns schdnherri Fst., 1. c. p. 5. Faust's paper was published in March, while •Peringuey's was only read on the 27tli May. So far as I am aware the genus Ilypomeces does not occur in Africa. E XPLANATION OF THE PLATES. P l a t e L X V I . 1. Ectatop>$ sheppard i ^ , p. 811. 2. Strop>liosomus sulcatifrons, p. 914. 3.
