N.B.-It is our belief the large B. helblingi Chemn. (recorded in Commander E. R. Shopland's List of Adenese Mollusca) extends its range to the Persian Gulf, though it is impossible at present to corroborate this with specimens in the collection. P. testa magna, solida, cequivalvi, incequilaterali, orbiculari, convexa, superjicie plana, obscure longitudinaliter multiradiata, epidermide ad marginem valvarum ventralem densa, Jim-briatula, nigro-olivacea; umbonibus parvis, incur vis, area ligamentari externa divisis, margine dorsali antice obliquo, postice fere recto, radiis sub lente prcecipue apud umbones pulchre cancellatis, et transversim Ur at ul is; interstitiis obscu-rissime quadratis; pagina interna alba, nitida, margine multi-sulculoso, cardine regulari; dentibus ad 24 in utraque valva instructis. Alt. 53, lat. 55, diam. 40 mm. Hab. Persian Gulf. A large, well-marked Pectunculus, allied most nearly to P. lividus Sow., from the Red Sea, mainly differing in being inequilateral, the posterior dorsal margin being straight.
