C'eft une reflexion que Ton ne pourra gueres s'empêcher de faire 5 pour peu qu'on îife le Traité dont nous parlons ; où d'ailleurs il y a tres-peu à apprendre pour les perfonnes qui ont quelque connoiflance de la Critique 5 & qui ont cultivé cette partie des Lettres que Ciceron appelle Interic-tes Litercvf. Ce ne font icy que des Recueils donnez au Public avec aufS peu de foin, que fi on n'eut pas dû îes imprimer ; ce font de purs abrégez de Livres, ce qui fait que celuy-cy ne contient prefque rien qui ne foit mieux ailleurs y parce qu'il ne fe*^ble pas que l'Auteur fe foit allez rendu propre le <u}et qu'il avoit entre îes mains. Il arrive de là y qu'après avoir dir peu de chofes fur chaque fujet , l'Ecrivain fe voit obligé à renvoyer le Ledeur aux Ouvrages de ceux qui en ont traité exprés. Ce jugement ftife firoit ? pour faire , à oen prés , cennoître cet Ouvrage que M.
