Jtlerr Mckenzie hatte uns eine gute Wohnung in seinem Hause gegeben, und wir lebten hier angenehm, wiewobl einfach und den Mitteln dieser enlfernlen Ge-genden angemessen; denn wir durften nicht lioffen einen so guten Tisch zu finden, als derselbe an Bord des Dampfschiffes gewesen war. Wir hatten taglich frisches oder getrocknetes Bisonfleisch, Brod aus Mehl gebacken, Kaffee und Wein felilten nie. Die ersten Tage verstrichen schnell unter Besichtigung des Fortes und der nachsten Umgebung, wahrend man auf dem Scniffe schon am 25. Juni das Ausla-den und den Transport der Vorralhe und Waaren nach dem Forte begann, wodurch Leben und Thatigkeit iiberall verbreitet wurden. Man schiffte sogleich wieder 800 Packs Qeder zu 10 Stiick) Bisonroben ein, wobei heftiger Regen eintrat, der die-sen von den Indianern gegerbten Fellen sehr schadlicli ist. Aus dieser Ursache |
