Q When you got through on Meskin bar or on these bars up there, the New Year bar, and the others you were working, then where did you go that year? A That was in 1896- 1897, winter of 1896 and part of 1897. 1896 Bennett and I -- or Meskin and I, went down the river on this trip. In 1898 -- hold on -- in the winter of 1898 I went down to what was called the Klondike bar, down below the San Juan. Q At what point did you enter the Colorado river? A At Hanson creek; I entered at Hanson creek, and built me a boat, or two boats. I made two big boats, about fourteen feet wide and eighteen or twenty feet long, something like that.
