A I went down the river in boats, I and Mr. Stanton and John Hite, Mack Ryan, a man named Jack Utah, I think they called him. Q What time of year did you go down? A We went down in December. BY MR. A I went in a flat bottom boat; I didn't have any real difficulties, never had any difficulties in going down, as long as we tried to stay in the middle of the river. But we was posting notices.
