A Yes sir; we generally worked pretty much in the winter; maybe we would go out in December and come back in February, as a rule. Q do you recall what year it was you went to work on Shock bar? A In 1896, I think it was, as near as I remember, I bought the Shock bar, on Independence bar, we called it, the first of the year, in 1897. Q Where was that with reference to Hall's crossing? A That was about ten miles below Hall's crossing? BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Did you say you bought it? A I purchased it the first of the year 1897. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q While you were at work on the Shock bar, or Independence bar, from what source did you get your supplies? A Got them from Hanson creek the first time we worked there, and took them down the river. Q By boat? A By boat. |
