FARNSWORTH: Q Do you know where Colonel Hite and his companions were coming from? A They was coming from Hite. Q Where did they go to after they got out of the jam? A They went to Good Hope, walked on down. I rode my horse down and sent a team back after them that night; it was very cold, they got wet; I sent the team back , and picked them up. Q Later they got the boat out when the jam broke, did they? A They took the boat on down the river; we pulled it up that night, unloaded is so would be out of the way of any floods that might come from the gorge, took it up and tired it to some willows. Q Later, when the gorge broke, the boat was taken down and used again? A Oh, yes, taken on down; the boat wasn't harmed any. Q Now, I believe you stated, Mr. Bennett, that between the years 1897 and 1920 you were on this section of the Colorado river every year? A I think every year; I don't recall any year I didn't |
