Show 5236 Newby- D 3248 the old Fort bottom, the lower end of the old Fort bottom, if I remember right, and there we found some more sandbars which we had to feel our way around to get by, and on up we came around to the Narrows. And there were more sandbars. And finally we made it up to Nigger Bill riffle, and there we had difficulty in getting around. That is quite a gravel bar in there, but we finally made the Wolverton ranch, and tied up there. And we remained there I guess about a week. It might have been eight days. I won't say tor certain. And we had to make some changes in the machinery of the boat. We had to raise the engines. We did that to raise the paddle wheel above the bottom of the boat, so it wouldn't hit the rocks.
