BLACKMAR: Q Were you there while any supplies were brought in to Stanton, machinery? A Yes. Q Did you have anything to do with the bringing of that in? A No. Q Do you know how it was brought in? Q Was some Stanton's machinery taken down from the point it reached the river on boats or barges? A Well, they built a flat- bottom boat quite large, I couldn't tell the dimensions, anyway, large enough to hold this drilling machine, and they came down and would drill across the bars, drill holes, then drop the boat down and pick the machine up below it and go over the still waters, but on the rapids they crossed with a cable, and pulled this machine across it.
