Show 5061 F. Johnson- D 3073 A They had two camps. The camp which I was in, we had a man with four pack mules. He would go to Lees Ferry and pack his stuff up, except I believe on trip, as I remember now. This one trip went by the river and got the supplies off the boat. Q About how many trips would you say the pack train made to furnish you with supplies? A To Lees Ferry? Q Yes. A He would go down once a week, make a trip once a week. Q How many weeks were you on this survey? A We were on this survey, as I remember now, about two months. THE SPECIAL MASTER: What year? BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q What year was it , Mr. Johnson? A That was in 1921. Q How did you return to Lees Ferry from that trip? A By boat. Q What kind of boat did you have? A Row boat, home- made row boat? Q Where did you obtain that boat? A The boat was tied up at the mouth of Rock creek when we got through, went down to the river there, they had brought it up the river to that point and left it for us. |
