Show 5139 Bennett- D 3151 A Yes sir. Q How much of the river did you wade in? A I waded all of it. Q Clear across? A Yes sir. Q What is the greatest depth you found, in wading across? A About two feet; that will only be for stretches; wasn't wide enough through the deepest part of it to get our raft through. That was the occasion for wading it, to find out where the deepest water was. We thought we were in the channel, but weren't positive of it. Where we were at was the only place we could pole,-- even pole our raft through. THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q How wide was your raft, this third one? A Ten feet. The bed rock at that point is cut up with cracks in it. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q It is all rock bottom? A Yes sir. Q Encounter any difficulty at Shock rapids? A Yes sir, our raft run aground there and busted up. Q Do you recall whether or not it ran on sand or rock? A It was on rocks. Q Then what did you do with it? A We took and caught it down below, reassembled it again, and took it on to Rincon. |
