Show 5192 F. Bennett- D 3204 waves in several places, a number of places, but they wasn't as heavy then as they when the water begins to rise, or falling water, either one. When the water gets low they congregate in there, and boil, roll there. During the winter it is not so bad. The sand is moving all the time. When there I an extra amount of it comes down, they will congregate and roll up. Q Basing your answer on the twenty years you spent down there on that river, what season of the year do these sand waves usually come? A They are worse when the river begins to rise in the spring, sometimes comes up in March, sometimes as late as April; and then after the river begins to go down, this sand seems to accumulate in there from the silt going down, worse then, that has been my experience. Q What month would that be? A That would be in the latter part of August, or possibly the fore part of August, that is, according to what season of the year the river begins to drop, go down lower. It boils, and so on. They will come up and make kind of whirls. You can hear them when the river is raising or falling during the high water. But don't make so much sand waves. Q Do they break down or up stream? |
