When we went over, we took the team over when we went, the water just came into out wagon box, because it wet our bedding; when we came back we put our supplies, the stuff that would set, we put it up higher in the wagon box, so it wouldn't get wet. Q Is that a hard bottom, or sand there? A It is gravel. Q How long did you remain on that bar? A Outside of some work I done for the dredge company, I was there, oh, I would say four or five years. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Working on this particular bar? A Yes. Q During the four or five years that you were there, did you get supplies from time to time, food? A Yes sir. Q How were they brought in? A They were brought in with teams down Hanson creek, and boated across the river, this being the only trip that I remember of fording with supplies. Q The first one? |
