Show 5093 Palmer- D 3105 Ferry the next day about four. Q Do you recall anything of interest on the trip down stream? A Well, we were stuck on sandbars, couldn't handle the boat, just go around, until we put a big log chain on it, drug out in front to hold the nose of the boat straight up river; had to back down. Q How long a log chain? A I would say about one hundred feet long, maybe more. Q On the second trip with the boat down, did you carry any kind of cargo? A Second trip down? Q I am talking about your first trip down. A That would be the last trip, the second time I went down? Q Yes. A Yes sir. MR. FARNSWORTH: This is the last trip he is on? MR. BLACKMAR: This is the last and only trip. A It made two trips and a half, altogether, and I made one trip and a half on it. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q What did you carry in the way of cargo? A Wagons and equipment they had at Warm creek around the coal mine, wagons mostly, I think, the way I remember. Q Did you have any barge or other boat hooked up with you? |
