Show 5219 F. Bennett- C 3231 Q From where? A From down at the Olympia bar. Q On that occasion that you particularly recall when you left your boat, did you the it on the bank and walk along the bank up to Hite? A We had to climb over the rocks, there was really no trail along there; we went up and went on the higher bench and came back down in. We couldn't go over the trail. It was under water at that time. Q That was an occasion when there was exceptionally high water, when you made that trip. Do you recall any other incidents of that character? A Not where I carried stuff down the river. It was too expensive and too hard work to get on up. That is the only time I recall I actually used every effort I could to get up. Q With that exception you recall no other occasion where you actually used every effort you could use to reach your destination when you did not reach it? A That is all I call to mind now, yes sir. Q You made these river trips during the years that you were down there in pursuing your vocation, did you not, or in the service of others who were engaged in business? A Yes sir. Q You were not in there in any sense as a sight- seer or gentleman of leisure? |
