Q Had men with oars to steer it at the stern? A They steered it with the boat, used the boat pulling the raft around from one corner to the other. Q So that all the equipment that went down for this drilling operation was taken down river by one or the other of the two rafts; it that so? A Yes sir, the rafts and the boat. Q Did any of the equipment go in the boat also? A Yes sir. Q What went in boats? A The trip I went down we had two drill stems in that I know of, in the boat. They started out with those on the raft.
