Show 5209 F. Bennett- D 3221 Q About twelve miles down the river? A Yes. Q Was it on the river? A On the same side of the river that Bluff is, and down the river. The road leaves the river, then comes back in to the river at Barrett Station. Q What means of transportation did you use to get from Bluff down to this place? A Pack outfit, horses. Q Leaving Bluff, which side of the San Juan did you go down? A I went on down the right bank of the San Juan, -- not from the trail. I left it at Bluff, and struck the river again at Barrett Station. Q What was the stage of the water in the San Juan at the time? A At Barrett Station there, what was called Barrett Station, there was quite a little stream of water; it was small; at Bluff there was quite a little stream of water there, and below Barrett. I went down the bed of the river, and there was no real running water in the bed of the river, only just pools of water along down. Went down there to water my horses. |
