Bennett- D 3214 A My recollection of the raft was, it was about -- I think the logs were out fourteen feet; if it was, it was forty- two feet long, and perhaps fourteen feet wide, may be a little wider. Q You don't know the exact size? A No, I don't recollect exactly; but there was three sections of it. Q Where did you get the timbers out of which you built it? A I not the timber on the river, driftwood, drift piles, logs, and floated them down, brought them down in the small rafts; go up the river. gather up a few, and float them down. I had been gathering those for some time. Q After you got the raft constructed, what did you put on it? A We pust most of this drilling rig; it was an Armstrong rig. we put on most of the drilling rig on there, the iron, the wheels and so on, and we used some of the timbers in the drilling rig to put in the raft, to help build the raft. Q Can you tell me anything of the incidents of the trip down river with that raft? A I don't recall any difficulty we had going down the river with raft, except at one point we got into pretty bad swell; the raft went down out of eight. I thought we had |
