A We went down the river from Good Hope to the Olympia bar. Q Did you encounter any difficulties in the operation of the boat? A Only once; we hung up once for a few minutes at what I think was called Warm springs canyon, on a sandbar there; the boat swung off of that and out into the channel, and we were all O. K. again. When they loaded this other stuff on at the Olympia bar our raft wasn't large enough to take care of it. The raft would sink under the water. So we went on down to an island there, another bar, camped there for the night, unloading the raft that night, putting it on the bank. The next morning we got a log out of a drift pile there -- THE SPECIAL MASTER: A little louder. I can hardly hear you. A -- built more on to our raft to take care of our additional load. From there we went down the river and got to Bull Frog rapid; we came very near crashing into the wall rock there, but by working real hard to managed to keep from striking it. Went on down to Hall's crossing, just below Bull Frog rapid, landed |
